MUNCIE, Ind. — Shelby Kean knows fellow collegiate athletes, at Ball State and elsewhere, who’ve felt worried in the past about being vocal about their political views.
The senior women’s soccer athlete at BSU thinks it’s a belief that’s held by different athletes nationwide. People could be concerned about having the tough conversation, fearing they’d say anything wrong. But Kean, the president of Ball State’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee, wants athletes to be confident they won’t be judged and all opinions are welcome.

It’s why she thought it was so important to see BSU Athletics not just let her and her fellow athletes know it supports them in that, but make it a priority June 11 with the announcement of the “Register, Chirp, Vote” initiative.
