YORKTOWN, Ind. — Almost immediately after the fourth set of the sectional semifinal match against New Castle concluded, tears were shed among Yorktown players.
It was a heartbreaking moment as their season and the high school careers of five seniors came to an end. As they shook hands and headed back to the visitors locker room, there was an overwhelming sadness among the players and coaching staff.
But as coach Stephanie Bloom recalled addressing her team in the locker room, thinking about how a few plays here or there might've changed the outcome, she couldn't help but smile.
