MUNCIE, Ind. — The 39th annual Muncie Ironman was Saturday at Prairie Creek Reservoir. The race was a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike and a 13.1-mile run. The Ironman website lists 1,759 athletes.
Cameron Hackett, a 23-year-old from Ohio, was the overall winner in 4:07:06. He finished the swim in 26:58, the bike in 2:10:03 and the run in 1:25:22. Hilary Fenton, a 29-year-old from Ohio, was the top female finisher. She was 24th overall with a time of 4:31:49 (31:36 swim, 2:27:03 bike and 1:28:36 run). Fenton edged Dani Fischer, who finished in 4:31:50.
Here are the top male finishers for each age group: Matt Hutchinson (25-29 age group with time of 4:08:28), Greg Grosicki (30-34, 4:11:53), Mark Weghorst (35-39, 4:17:24), James Harrington (40-44, 4:20:47), Thierry Guertin (45-49, 4:20:55), John Potter (50-54, 4:50:48), Craig Zelent (55-59, 4:54:16), Bruce Williams (60-64, 5:06:22), Pat Peppler (65-69, 5:33:00), Patrick Bourdillon (70-74, 6:15:09), James Davis (75-79, 7:05:28) and Peter Schmitz (PC, 7:24:10).
