MUNCIE, Ind. — Thousands of athletes, volunteers and supporters will descend on Prairie Creek Reservoir on Saturday for IRONMAN 70.3 Muncie.
It’s the 10th year since IRONMAN became involved, and 40th time the event’s been held considering it was known as the Muncie Endurathon for 30 years. Race director Brian Myrick said it averages about 1,800 to 2,000 participants and expects about 5,000 people total on race day.
“I think for 30 years the Muncie Endurathon put on a pretty fantastic event, great volunteering, community support,” Myrick said. “When IRONMAN expanded and was looking at other races to bring into the portfolio, Muncie was a natural fit.
