MUNCIE, Ind. — IRONMAN returns to Muncie Saturday, Oct. 2. And this year's event will be bigger than ever, among other changes.
Last year's event was canceled due to COVID-19. This year, Muncie returns to the IRONMAN calendar as host of both the IRONMAN 70.3 Muncie and IRONMAN Indiana, a full-distance triathlon, which will run in conjunction.
The addition of IRONMAN Indiana came as a result of The IRONMAN Group's original 12 full-distance triathlons being sold out. When looking at venues, race director Brian Myrick said Muncie became an easy target.
"IRONMAN Indiana was a demand situation," Myrick said.
