MUNCIE, Ind. — To understand Charlie Spegal’s relentless running style — and the pain opposing defenses experience play after play — you have to take a trip back in time to the summer before eighth grade.
By now the Delta freshman running back is on every opposing coach’s radar, but it was on this summer day when Spegal worked out with his older brother that would typify a freshman season in which he has put up 1,906 yards – many of which have come after initial contact — and 17 touchdowns.
Spegal’s father, Chris, was working out Charlie and Joe, who graduated from Delta in 2015 and is now a walk-on for Ball State.
