IU quarterback Michael Penix will require further tests on an injured left shoulder, after he left during the third quarter of Saturday’s game at Penn State.
Penix, a redshirt junior, suffered the injury as he was tackled trying to extend a third-down play. Team medical staff worked on the injured joint — Penix’s left is his throwing arm — for several minutes on the field before taking Penix to the Beaver Stadium visitors’ locker room.
It has been a stop-start season for Penix, who struggled mightily in losses to Iowa and Cincinnati before rallying to a superb performance at Western Kentucky.
