PORTLAND, Ind. — Saturday was a good day for wrestling in East Central Indiana. Between the two regional sites that area teams competed in, 32 individual wrestlers qualified for the semistate while seven were crowned regional champions.
At Jay County High School, the host Patriots finished as regional runners-up to Bellmont, which has now won back-to-back regional titles and five since 2010.
Overall, Bellmont scored 131 points, edging Jay County (90) and Bluffton (76.5) for the top spot. Cowan, which won its first sectional title a week ago, finished tied for fifth with Norwell with 68.
