MUNCIE, Ind. — The baseball postseason began Wednesday night, with lopsided wins, lopsided losses and walkoff hits.
Nine local teams opened sectional play, with three picking up wins. Softball sectionals also continued with three local teams in action, with one local squad moving on.

Yorktown 8, Blackford 3
Sully Swingley had a big game for Yorktown. He crushed a double to right-center in the first inning, added a sacrifice fly in the second and drove in another run with a double in the fifth. He also earned the win on the mound, pitching 5 2/3 innings with 11 strikeouts before giving up his first run on an RBI single by Blackford's Jake Ross.
