MUNCIE, Ind. — When Lacy Wood entered the coaching ranks of collegiate softball in 2012, becoming a head coach of a program wasn’t the “end all be all” for her.
Wood, who took that first step as a volunteer assistant at Louisville, her alma mater, had already been hooked on the profession as a high school coach about three years earlier. Although she’d reluctantly accepted the coaching position at Presentation Academy in Louisville, it only took a few days for her to realize that coaching was the right fit for her. So as she transitioned from the high school level to college, from Louisville to Eastern Kentucky and from EKU to Harvard, an assistant along the way, she tried to “be where my feet are and not think too far ahead.
