GASTON, Ind. — Monroe Central girls basketball went 3-15 in 2020-21, the program's first losing season in eight years and its worst record since 2002-03.
The Golden Bears won a sectional title in 2018-19, though, and third-year head coach Brock Morrison went 19-5 in his first season the year after. Going from a sectional-contending team to near bottom of the Mid-Eastern Conference in one year was tough on the players, but the group this year has displayed a renewed confidence.
With a 44-31 win at Wes-Del on Tuesday, Monroe Central (3-1) won its third straight game, all by double-digit margins, to equal its win total from a year ago.
