HS rundown: Yorktown, Wapahani XC win conference; Wes-Del FB wins

MUNCIE, Ind. — Yorktown's girls cross country team made history Saturday, winning the Hoosier Heritage Conference meet for the first time ever.

Madeline Aul, as she has all season, led the Tigers (38 points) in third place, while Indira Brown was not far behind in fifth. Amberleigh Sorensen was eighth for Yorktown, while Hannah Rapp was 10th and Elizabeth Reece 12th. Brandy Tuttle led fourth-place Delta in ninth, while Ashleigh Brelage was 11th.

The Wapahani boys also won the Mid-Eastern Conference title with 44 points over Blue River (50) and Monroe Central (63). The Raiders' Nathan Herbst was the overall winner in 16:45, and twin brother Alex Herbst finished second.
