MUNCIE, Ind. — Blake Huggins had been speaking with James Whitford for a couple weeks, about ways they could help everyone on the Ball State men’s basketball team become more connected.
Huggins, a redshirt junior center, had been talking with his head coach Whitford about how the team compared to those of past seasons. Considering factors such as the pandemic and other matters outside of Huggins’ teammates’ control, the Cardinals were affected negatively and weren’t acting in the way Huggins would have wanted.
So when BSU lost by 32 points on Jan. 30 against Akron, Huggins understood what he had to do next.
