MUNCIE, Ind. — With the Mid-American Conference’s announcement earlier this month came the news that Ball State President Geoffrey Mearns would be the MAC’s Chair of the Council of Presidents and a representative on the NCAA’s Board of Directors.
It means that, in the coming years, Mearns will preside over critical conversations at the MAC level and be a part of them at the NCAA level. In what Mearns would describe as a dynamic time in collegiate athletics, discussions about topics such as name, image and likeness and the expansion of the College Football Playoff are occurring more and more.
