Gov. Eric Holcomb specifically addressed the need for limited crowd sizes at high school basketball games on Wednesday as Indiana reported another record for daily coronavirus cases.
“High school basketball and other extracurricular sports and activities are among our most sacred events,” Holcomb said. “It’s our heritage, by gosh. But we will need to limit attendance at winter K-12 activities in counties with orange and red metrics.” (See list of counties designated orange and red below.)
By the metrics established by the Indiana State Department of Health, the counties in the red zone – based on a formula of the number of new cases per 100,000 residents, the positivity rate and the recent change in that rate – are at the highest risk for spread.
