The St. Louis Cardinals didn't waste any time getting their 28-year-old rookie his first taste of big league action.
Jeremy Hazelbaker, a former Wapahani and Ball State baseball star, made his Major League debut Sunday afternoon against the Pittsburgh Pirates in a game nationally televised on ESPN. He didn't start, but he pinch hit in the seventh inning and struck out looking.
The 2006 Wapahani graduate made the St. Louis Cardinals' Opening Day roster after seven seasons (and 751 games) in the minor leagues. Plenty of family and friends were on hand to see it.
