YORKTOWN, Ind. — Trent McCormick walked the aisles of Marsh Supermarket on Tillotson Avenue, deciding what groceries he could buy with the little money in his pockets. This was 1987, and McCormick was just a college student, after all.
As McCormick was finishing up, he was approached by John Fullenkamp, the head wrestling coach and a math teacher at Yorktown High School. McCormick graduated from Delta and knew of Fullenkamp, but was not at all expecting what Fullenkamp presented to him:
A job offer.
"He came up to me and asked me about maybe being an assistant coach and helping with the program," McCormick said.
