MUNCIE, Ind. — Arbrie Benson didn’t come to Ball State to play for its women’s basketball team.
When the Illinois native arrived on campus in 2018, she did so after having spent that spring out of school. She’d left Northwest Missouri State, a Division II program, early on during her junior season the previous fall. She’d dealt with internal doubts about whether she’d ever play competitive basketball again, departing the only place she felt gave her a chance to play at the next level because she said she didn’t believe she could live up to her potential there.
