YORKTOWN, Ind. — They were good friends in high school as they chased their dreams, and even as their paths diverged in college, they remained close. So it was only fitting that two former Yorktown teammates got the call they worked so hard to make happen just a day apart.
Clay Dungan (Indiana State) was picked in the ninth round by the Kansas City Royals of the MLB Draft on Tuesday, and one day later, Cole Barr (Indiana) was selected in the 37th round by the Seattle Mariners.
The two were part of a dynamic middle infield at Yorktown, with Dungan playing shortstop and Barr at second base in 2015, with Barr taking over shortstop after Dungan graduated.
