MUNCIE, Ind. — As Loyola Chicago has gone on an improbable run to the Final Four, head coach Porter Moser has continually given a shout-out to a former Ball State basketball coach. Moser credits Rick Majerus, who coached Ball State from 1987-89, with helping him create a culture that has enabled the Ramblers to win four straight NCAA Tournament games, leading to Saturday’s national semifinal against Michigan.
Whether it be as Loyola (32-5) was winning the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament or any of the four NCAA Tournament "upsets" – if you can even call them that, at this point – Moser’s friendship and admiration of Majerus has been a popular storyline as the two coached together at Saint Louis from 2007-11.
