MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team put on a defensive showdown in the first 30 minutes of action to shutout Mid-American Conference leader James Madison but unfortunately JMU was able to score four goals in the second half earning the 4-0-win Sunday afternoon at the Briner Sports Complex.

The Cardinals kept the game within reach for the first 30 minutes of play as BSU held JMU scoreless while limiting the Dukes to only two penalty corners.

With the game still scoreless after intermission, James Madison's Alice Roeper scored her 11th goal of the season at the 37:18 mark to give the Dukes a 1-0 lead over BSU.
