MUNCIE, Ind. — They all sold it.
Drew Plitt sold it. Caleb Huntley sold it. The offensive line sold it. So, when Malik Dunner went in motion during a play in Ball State’s first scrimmage of fall camp, sprinting toward the sideline farthest away from his initial, pre-snap position, and took the hand-off from Plitt, just enough of the defense balked at chasing him for just enough time for Dunner to break free.
Linebacker Colin Caldwell and others pursued Huntley, who Plitt faked a hand-off to in the backfield moments after he set Dunner loose, and Dunner followed blocks from tight end Kyle Schrank and fullback Cody Rudy on the outside.
