NEW CASTLE, Ind. — For Sonja Thornburgh, the challenge this season has been getting the players on her Blue River volleyball team to realize that opposing teams are now chasing them.
With back-to-back sectional championships and with the Vikings being rated inside the top 10 of the IndianaPrepVolleyball.com Z-Ratings most of the season — including the No. 2 spot in late August — Blue River has become a target that opposing teams want to beat. It's a much different position than the Vikings have been accustomed to after breaking an 18-year drought to win their first sectional title two seasons ago.
