YORKTOWN, Ind. — For the first time this season, a Yorktown player earned The Star Press football Player of the Week honors.
Alex Gibson made his presence known on both sides of the ball during Yorktown's 48-6 first round sectional win over Crawfordsville. The senior wide receiver/free safety accumulated 150 all-purpose yards on Friday night, running the ball twice for 47 yards and a pair of touchdowns and catching one pass for 23 yards. He racked up additional 66 yards in the return game and had 24 more yards on an interception.
This season, Gibson has 749 all-purpose yards, 26 tackles, four interceptions and six touchdowns (three rushing, three receiving) for the Tigers.
