MUNCIE, Ind. — This Delta girls tennis season defies logic, and it just keeps getting better.
After losing two of the program's all-time wins leaders from last season, a younger, more inexperienced Delta squad is somehow better. And it is heading to state in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history.
Eighth-ranked Delta swept No. 27 Concord 5-0 on Saturday in the Homestead Semi-State to qualify for the state quarterfinals on Friday, when it will meet No. 1 Cathedral. Now with a 24-1 record, Delta has tied its single-season wins record after earning its seventh victory against a ranked squad.
