MUNCIE, Ind. — Last season was an unforgettable one for Ball State men's volleyball.
For the first time in 20 years, the Cardinals won the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association tournament and competed in the NCAA Tournament, making it all the way to the Final Four before falling to eventual champion Hawai'i in a thrilling five sets.
The team's run honored the late Dr. Don Shondell, an Indiana volleyball pioneer who died in November 2021. It was only fitting that first year head coach Donan Cruz joined Shondell (1995, 1996) as the only BSU coach to be named AVCA National Coach of the Year.
