Disruptive Defense Shuts Down EKU in 41-14 Win

MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State front seven spent so much time in the Eastern Kentucky backfield Saturday, they almost started receiving their mail there.

The Cardinals completely negated EKU’s rushing attack and hounded Colonel quarterback Maty Mauk all day en route to a 41-14 victory at Scheumann Stadium. It was a shut out for more than 56 minutes before Ball State surrendered a pair of late scores.

“The defense was fantastic,” Cardinals head coach Mike Neu said. “You talk about getting to the quarterback; I’m just proud of our guys. We talked about starting fast, playing a complete game and finishing.
