MUNCIE — First-year Delta girls golf coach Jim Fowler appears as calm as anyone could be, a good trait for all golfers.
He stands outside the Lakeview Greens Golf Course in Eaton, a few golf balls in his hand, as he talks about how difficult it is to get to know the players, like senior Ashlie Powell, when it's just his first year.
All the while, bees buzz around him. They land on his hands and neck as he walks around. He never flinches or acknowledges that they are there.
Being immune to distraction, that's another good trait for golf players.
