MUNCIE, Ind. — When she left Delta volleyball four years ago, Whitney Stewart knew she eventually wanted to return. She just couldn’t have imagined the timing would have worked out this well.
About one month after Stewart resigned from Cowan after three seasons, the head coaching position at Delta became open. After playing and being an assistant coach with the Eagles, the 2000 Delta graduate is now the head coach.
“It’s like going home,” she said Tuesday night after being approved by the school board.
Stewart stepped down from the Cowan position shortly after coaching the Blackhawks to their second straight sectional title.
