MARION, Ind. — If this match meant more to him, Tim Cleland wasn’t showing it.
Delta’s girls tennis coach stood in a circle with his athletes prior to their 30-minute warmup period and chatted with them as calm as ever. Once they began to loosen up, the final countdown to their regional semifinal matchup with Alexandria Monroe at Marion underway, he stood in the middle of two courts — four Eagles players on each — and watched.

Clad in a pink hat with “Smash Cancer” spelled out in white, a Delta tennis hoodie, khaki pants and tennis shoes, Cleland’s expression never strained.
