MUNCIE, Ind. — Over and over Friday, before the kickoff of the football game between Delta and Pendleton Heights, Eagles quarterback Brady Hunt said his coaches were reminding him and his teammates how long it’d been since they’d beat their opponent.
Hunt and his teammates knew that they hadn’t won a matchup between the two programs since 2015 — the last season with now-athletic director Grant Zgunda as the program’s head coach. They’d had this game, this Hoosier Heritage Conference contest, circled on their calendars for a while. So in time Friday, according to Hunt, listening to how “a team’s kicked your butt” in recent years did become annoying.
