MUNCIE, Ind. — At first, Delta football’s sectional semifinal win Friday at home against Fort Wayne Wayne didn’t appear as if it’d come as smoothly as it eventually did.
The Eagles, coming off of a 48-0 shellacking of Jay County the week before, trailed against the Generals late in the second quarter. Against an opponent that wouldn’t be able to reach .500 if it went on to win the Class 4A state title, the Eagles needed a touchdown in the final minute of the second quarter to ensure they wouldn’t be losing at halftime. The Eagles, leading 21-18, left the field ahead of the third quarter on pace to allow the most points they had all season.
