MUNCIE, Ind. – Visiting Dayton scored a pair of runs in the top of the first inning and relied on steady pitching the rest of the way to earn a 3-1 win over the Ball State baseball team Sunday afternoon at Ball Diamond.
Pitcher Zach Beaver went seven innings for Dayton (4-14) and scattered eight hits. The only run he allowed was unearned in the fifth inning.
The Flyers pounded out three singles up the middle in the top of the first off Ball State (11-10) starter TJ Harmon, who was making his first collegiate start on the mound.
