INDIANAPOLIS — For the first time in school history, the Daleville baseball team is a state champion.
Daleville defeated Lanesville 4-0 in the Class A State Championship game Saturday afternoon.
After a quick first three innings, the Brocnos' TJ Price led off the fourth inning with a home run that bounced off the top of the left field wall, giving his team all the offense it needed.
Starting pitcher Brandon Vermillion found himself in trouble in the bottom of the fourth inning after consecutive singles from Laneville's Mitchell Bailey and Cameron Harvey. With the Eagles threatening the lead, Vermillion induced a double play to get out of the inning unscathed.
