INDIANAPOLIS — Daniel Hanson stood near the first base line at Victory Field on Saturday afternoon and received his second state championship medal. He shook hands with IHSAA commissioner Bobby Cox.
This was Hanson's last time wearing that Daleville polo, at least in an official capacity, and he talked about how great working at Daleville has been for him and his family.
"It's bittersweet, and it's amazing way to go out," Hanson said. "The community has been so welcoming to my family."
Starting next week, Hanson will be the assistant principal at Wes-Del, ending a 10-year run at Daleville that included stints as the baseball coach (seven years), boys basketball coach (four years) and athletic director (three years).
