MUNCIE, Ind. – Daire’el Hall didn’t know who else to call.
He couldn’t believe what happened, even after he saw it with his own eyes. It was the day before Thanksgiving his sophomore year of high school and he came home to find that his mother, Donnica Douglas, had died.
She was his rock. His best friend. His No. 1 fan. She was someone who knew him better than he knew himself and the only person he would open up to.
And she was gone.
Hall called Darrick Lee, who was an assistant coach on Muncie Central’s football staff at the time.
