MUNCIE, Ind. — Coming into the regional championship, Cowan's softball team had scored 62 runs in its last five games combined. That included a 25-1 advantage in two sectional games.
But don't let those lopsided scores — like its 16-0 sectional championship victory — and the amount of runs they've scored fool you. The Blackhawks are a defensive team.
Just ask Cambridge City Lincoln, which came into the regional having scored a combined 28 runs against three sectional opponents. Try as they might, the Golden Eagles could hardly get a baserunner, let alone score a run on the Blackhawks' stingy defense.
