MUNCIE, Ind. — It's been more than a month since youth sports returned throughout Indiana and many leagues, including several right here in East Central Indiana, are already more than two weeks into their shortened seasons.
The novel coronavirus has brought visible changes to places like the Yorktown Sports Park. On any given night, in an effort to reduce large gatherings, there will be just as many empty fields as there are with kids playing games. There is hand sanitizer in the dugout and adults social distancing in lawn chairs around the diamond.
But while a majority of families in the area have returned to their respective summer routines, others chose to sit this season entirely.
