MUNCIE, Ind. - - Led by a fifth-place finish in the discus by sophomore Princess Carter, the Ball State track & field team enjoyed a sunny, but blustery start to the Ball State Challenge Friday afternoon at University Track in the Briner Sports Complex.
Battling the gusty winds blowing between 20 and 30 miles per hour, Carter threw just off her season-best to place fifth in the discus (44.06m) and finish 24th in the hammer throw.
Junior Kelsey Walters led the way for the Cardinals in the hammer, placing 19th at 40.46m.
The Ball State track and field team closes action in the Ball State Challenge Saturday, when it competes in 13 events.
