PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Ball State stayed one step ahead all day against two opponents from the east coast to pick up a pair of victories at the Snowbird Classic in Florida on Saturday.
BSU defeated St. Joseph's 7-5 before winning a 12-9 slugfest against Mt. St. Mary's in the afternoon.
For the day, Ball State totaled 22 hits (.306 average) and scored 19 runs. Messina went 4-for-9 with three doubles and three RBIs to lift his season batting average to .304. Ryan Peltier played in the second game and went 3-for-4 while scoring two runs and he also added a sac fly.
