CONWAY, S.C. – The Ball State baseball team opened play at the 2016 Chanticleer Classic Friday afternoon with a 7-3 loss to No. 13 Ole Miss. Ball State was trying to pick up a win over a nationally ranked team for the fourth straight year.
Ball State (3-6) jumped on top of Ole Miss in the top of the third inning, 2-1, thanks to junior Alex Maloney’s two-run double.
However, the Rebels immediately responded in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead for good. Cameron Dishon led off with his first home run of the year to tie the game.
