Ball State’s men’s basketball team competed Saturday for the first time in a week, playing on the road against Akron after BSU’s most recent midweek matchup was postponed.
The Cardinals had the opportunity to win their first game since the middle of January, when they topped Northern Illinois at home. BSU coach James Whitford’s team had a chance to top a Zips squad that’s been among the Mid-American Conference’s most prolific so far this season. Neither of those things happened, as Ball State suffered a 74-42 defeat.
BSU (6-8, 4-5 in MAC) never led against Akron (10-3, 8-2), which would lead by as many as 34 points over the course of the game.
