Buzzer breakdown: BSU men’s basketball loses against Akron in MAC matchup

MUNCIE, Ind. — Ball State men’s basketball played its second-straight game inside of Worthen Arena this week on Friday, and lost its second-straight game at home in that span as well in an 88-79 defeat against Akron.

The Cardinals entered the contest with an opportunity to beat a team that had crushed them by 32 points in their previous meeting this season. BSU coach James Whitford and company had a chance to win their first game since Feb. 6, given postponements had only allowed them one Mid-American Conference contest since and they’d lost that one. And Ball State (7-11, 5-8 in MAC) squandered its shot, failing to take advantage of a six-point lead at halftime and instead losing by nine points.
