MUNCIE, Ind. — Ball State went on the road Saturday for the first time this season and faced Evansville, but the Cardinals wouldn’t earn their first road victory and lost 79-75.
The Purple Aces (1-0) opened up a 22-point lead at halftime and did just enough to hold off the Cardinals in the second half. Ball State struggled to shoot the ball consistently in the first half. It struggled to stop, or even slow down, Evansville forward DeAndre Williams. The Cardinals (1-1) looked like a Mid-American Conference contender during some stretches and not close to one during others.
