STATESBORO, Ga. — Ball State opened up the 2021-22 season with an 82-71 loss against Georgia Southern, a final score that isn't as indicative of how close the game was for most of the contest.
The Cardinals led early in the first half as Ball State junior guard Luke Bumbalough finished with a career-high 21 points. The Cardinals saw 11 different players get minutes and eight different players score. Junior guard Jalen Windham (12 points) and redshirt senior forward Miryne Thomas (11 points) finished in double-digits.
It took a while for either team to pull away as the two exchanged the lead nine times.
