MUNCIE, Ind. — Ball State captured its second-straight Mid-American Conference win at home Tuesday with a 71-61 victory against Western Michigan.
The Cardinals (16-12, 9-6 in MAC) avenged a loss earlier this season against the Broncos (11-17, 4-11) through this win. BSU coach James Whitford’s squad improved its mark against MAC West Division opponents to 5-2. And although Northern Illinois pulled off a comeback win against Eastern Michigan to stay ahead of Ball State in the standings, BSU’s ability to take care of this opportunity at Worthen Arena means its chances at a bye in the conference tournament and a division championship remain strong.
