ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Ball State (2-3) closed out its three-game Jersey Mike's Classic trip with an 89-86 victory over Massachusetts (3-3).
The Cardinals had their most dominant offensive performance of the season, having scored more points with 11:44 left than they had in any of their previous games. For the first time during this road trip, it was Ball State's opponent — and not Ball State — which was forced to try and mount a comeback in the final minutes of the game.
And Massachusetts almost did.
Ball State led by 17 points with 10:45 left but it saw Massachusetts, like several of its other opponents this season, outscore it down the stretch.
