BSU football’s head coach: Team ‘trending in a good direction’ toward COVID vaccinations

MUNCIE, Ind. — Less than a month before Ball State’s football team opened fall camp, Mid-American Conference commissioner Jon Steinbrecher spoke at the MAC’s football media day about the importance of people getting vaccinated for COVID-19.

While Steinbrecher raved about how low the positivity rate was for MAC football athletes last season, he also pointed out that the pandemic isn’t over. Not long after calling the members of the MAC’s medical advisory group “superstars,” he brought up the delta variant and how much it can affect those who aren’t vaccinated. He didn’t mince words when he said, “Unvaccinated participants are at risk, and their team is at risk.
