TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - - Sophomore Tommy Brunner turned in the second-fastest 1000 freestyle time in the Ball State record book, clocking in at 9:25.77, to earn the event win and lead the squad in its first stop of a busy weekend at the Vigo County Aquatic Center.
It was Brunner's first event win of the season and the Cardinals best event finish in losses to the University of Indianapolis and Southern Illinois in a meet hosted by Indiana State.
To go along with a victory in the 1000, sophomore Malcolm Slater clocked in a second-place finish for Ball State in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:36.
