DECATUR, Ind. — There's something to be said for a team full of freshmen and sophomores to go 22-7 and play its way to a No. 2 ranking in all of Class 3A. Heck, Yorktown coach Jeff Berger thought 2018 would be an "experimental season" to see what kind of young talent he had.
But along with a few key juniors and seniors, those young players kept on producing. And Yorktown kept on winning. That experimental season wound up being one in which the Tigers won the county championship and a sectional.
The regional was just a step they weren't ready for.
